Foraging for Food, Medicine, Connection with Local Plants

Learn to forage local plants safely and sustainably! While walking at Camp Paradise we’ll meet a variety of plants, learning their uses for food and/or medicine. Foraging is an ancient tradition that brings you into close, intimate connection with the foods you eat and every day plant medicine. We will discuss uses, resources, safety, identification, and methods of harvest and preparation. If you are interested in ways to take better care of your health naturally and sustainably, this is a walk you won’t want to miss! Bring a notebook, camera/phone, and a friend. A handout with some recipes is included.

Instructor Bio: Iris Weaver is an herbalist and foraging instructor who leads plant walks on finding and using edible and medicinal plants in urban, suburban, and rural settings, as well as teaching a variety of classes and hands-on workshops. She is an avid gardener, especially of herbs of all kinds. With a deep love of the plants, she grows and wild-crafts many of the plants she uses in her herbal products, medicines, and foods, and has been doing so for decades. She is passionate about sharing what she knows about herbs, weeds, and all kinds of plants.
