Join us at Lynch Park for a sauna session by the sea. Our cedar barrel sauna is heated to temperatures upward of 180°F and is the perfect accompaniment to New England’s early winter season. Sauna has many health benefits, including relaxation and stress relief, temporary relief from pain, improved cardiovascular and respiratory functioning, and reduced inflammation. Kick things up a notch by cooling off in the sea. If the sea is not your thing, relaxing in the brisk salty New England air is a perfect alternative. There is nothing like it and we are so proud and excited to bring this experience to the Beverly community. This wonderful wood fired sauna sits up to 6 people. Book a spot on the bench for an hour, or multiple spots for you and your friends. Wear a swimsuit, bring your towel, water bottle and don't forget water shoes if planning to visit the shore.

Get out of the cold and into the kitchen (well…cookie class) with this warmed-up sugar cookie decorating class! This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We will be doing a fun Winter Warm theme set that tastes amazing and will look even better once you’ve completed your decorating!
What’s Included: We provide everything you will need! Everyone will be set up with cookies, icing, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each baker gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate! You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class!
Instructor Bio: Lauren Messinger is the Chief Baking Officer of La Messy Baker. A lifelong baking enthusiast, Lauren turned her passion into a business in 2020 with the launch of La Messy Baker, a licensed residential kitchen based in Beverly. She specializes in creating beautiful and delicious custom-decorated sugar cookies for every occasion.
What began at her kitchen counter has grown into a joyful space for creativity, connection, and plenty of butter. Lauren lives in Beverly Farms with her husband and two daughters. Students of this class will learn the fundamental principles of Tai Chi and how to apply them in the practice of Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan Short Form. Students will also become acquainted with complementary practices such as Zhan Zhuang, Qi Gong and Bagua Zhang. This class will aim to improve the students understanding of movement, the body’s natural ability to draw in and expend energy efficiently as well as develop a practice that promotes an overall sense of well being.
Instructor Bio: Paul Findlen is a practicing martial artist, and tai chi and yoga instructor who lives in Beverly’s Ryal Side neighborhood. Paul has studied Tai Chi, Zenmudo, and Sunmudo with Vijay Son, and Tai Chi and Qigong as a student at Great Bay Tai Chi, under the instruction of Austin Murray and Master Paul Mahoney. Paul has also trained in boxing with Jack Dullea, received his yoga certification under the tutelage of Deana Bacon, and currently trains Brazilian jiu jitsu at the Invictus Training Center, as a student of head coach Nate Morrison. Paul enjoys composing and performing music, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.

Monthly through May, come and play the world’s greatest game (if you don’t count Pac Man) with your neighbors. This is not an instructional class, but rather a meet up for people who are looking to play.
No matter your skill level, join us and challenge yourself to learn, grow and master chess. Boards will be provided though we invite you to bring a board if you are able.

In this class, you’ll learn the basic stitches, how to read a pattern, and how to make a tension swatch. We’ll also cover the different types and weights of yarn. Get guidance on starting a new project of your choice or bring along one that’s got you stuck for some expert help!
This class is perfect for all skill levels, whether you’ve never picked up a crochet hook or just need a fun refresher. All are welcome!
Materials needed: 1 skein of single color Worsted Weight yarn, size H crochet hook, a pair of scissors, a tape measure or small ruler, pen and paper for notes.
INSTRUCTOR BIO: Polly has been crocheting and knitting since learning from her grandmother as a child. She continued to master her craft over the years. Her intricate and colorful crocheted and knitted pieces have received many accolades and awards. The latest was First Place for a crocheted afghan and Best In Show for a knitted afghan. Warm up this winter with a social Latin dance class on the North Shore! Each week, ReKindle Dance will teach you easy, beginner-friendly moves in Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue that you can use at weddings, parties, or just when your favorite song comes on.
You’ll learn the core steps and rhythms that make Latin dance so joyful — building confidence, connection, and laughter along the way. Couples, friends, and solo dancers are all welcome. Just bring a clean pair of shoes, water, and a readiness to have fun!

Discover the joy and ease of water-mixable oil painting with this 6-week class facilitated by local oil painter Joli Ayn Wood.
Each immersive, weekly session is 3 hours in length, where participants “paint along with Joli” to complete a small painting. Each week a variety of skills and subject matter are introduced, from painting skies to crashing surf. Sessions include helpful painting demonstrations, hands on painting exercises guided by Joli, discussion of materials and tools, color mixing exercises (including grays/neutrals), as well as the importance of composition and value.
Subjects may include: Color mixing lesson - creation of color wheels, neutrals exercise, Joli’s 5-step process for painting - demonstration and student practice of how to start a painting, painting skies and clouds, painting the surf, painting the land, painting trees
Instructor Bio: My name is Joli Ayn Wood and my passion is Better Living Through Art. My passion is bringing art into my local community along the North Shore of Boston. Whether it is painting what inspires me, or teaching and demonstrating my painting techniques, I enjoy helping those around me discover the healing and therapeutic qualities of making art. When painting, I work mainly in oils, on many different surfaces, and I enjoy painting out of doors, and from life, most of all. I long to capture what it feels like to be in a place as it is on that day. When I’m not trekking out to paint the marshes, forests, and rocky coasts of New England, you may find me painting at the local cafe, school, or even at your next corporate event. I love sharing my painting process with public painting demonstrations, as well as private instruction, teaching budding artists of all ages. In addition to creating, I enjoy organizing art events for my fellow artists, connecting them within their own communities.

Discover the unique expressive possibilities of mixed media collage with an all-new hands-on exploratory class! Designed for both beginner and experienced artists, this 3-class course looks at a range of mixed media techniques, including image transfer, magazine collaging, layering, basic painting, text integration, and more. Participants will explore how combining diverse materials and processes can open new pathways for storytelling, reflection, and creative expression at a relaxed and productive pace.
By the end of these classes, participants will have developed a deeper understanding of composition, material language/compatibility, and self-expression, along with a personal series of mixed media pieces that reflect their own individual voices and artistic journeys. Materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring any additional materials they would like to work with. Possibilities are endless, and materials can be found anywhere and everywhere!
Instructor Bio: Owen Gaffney is a 24-year-old mixed media artist and Beverly native who loves helping students of all ages discover their confidence and creativity through art. With a degree in both Studio Art and Psychology from the College of The Holy Cross, Owen brings a strong understanding of form, composition, and technique in a variety of mediums.
While teaching any introductory course, the goal for Owen is always to create a welcoming environment where students of all experience levels can freely explore their interests and passions. He is an artist and educator who believes that every artist has something unique to say, and he is dedicated to helping students express it, no matter the medium.

This beginner-friendly, one-day workshop will walk you through how to create your own clean, unique, and vibrant prints at home using simple, affordable, and easily accessible materials. No fancy equipment required!
Participants will learn how to prepare their own makeshift screen, design a stencil, and pull their first-ever print using household items and low-cost supplies. Taking it step by step, we will go from idea to finished print, and by the end of our time, you’ll walk away with:

With a degree in both Studio Art and Psychology from the College of The Holy Cross, Owen brings a strong understanding of form, composition, and technique in a variety of mediums.
While teaching any introductory course, the goal for Owen is always to create a welcoming environment where students of all experience levels can freely explore their interests and passions. He is an artist and educator who believes that every artist has something unique to say, and he is dedicated to helping students express it, no matter the medium.

Chess Night
BevRec and the Beverly Public Library are teaming up to offer Chess Nights in the Barnett Gallery in the main Library at 32 Essex St, Beverly. Monthly through May, come and play the world’s greatest game (if you don’t count Pac Man) with your neighbors. This is not an instructional class, but rather a meet up for people who are looking to play.
No matter your skill level, join us and challenge yourself to learn, grow and master chess. Boards will be provided though we invite you to bring a board if you are able.

Each team will play eight regular-season games and is guaranteed at least one playoff game. All games will be refereed and held at Balch Playground or an indoor court (TBD) in the event of rain. The league plays on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Both the Men’s and Women’s leagues are 18+ and may be divided by skill level depending on the number of registered teams.

In this 1.5-hour class, we'll cover the basics of sugar cookies (yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing!

Have a crochet project you’d like to try but need help with pattern reading and complicated stitches? Working on a project but you’re stuck and need motivation and help to move on? This class is for you! In Advanced Beginner you will work on your own project and receive individual attention to get you started or over the hump.
You must know basic stitches: Slip Knot, Single Crochet, Double Crochet & Slip Stitch. If you do not have any experience and would like to learn these stitches the Beginner Crochet Class is for you.
Materials to bring: Pattern and project (if you’ve started one) or yarn needed for your new project, the crochet hook required for your project, a pair of scissors, a tape measure or small ruler, pen and paper for notes.
Instructor Bio: Polly has been crocheting and knitting since learning from her grandmother as a child. She continued to master her craft over the years. Students of this class will learn the fundamental principles of Tai Chi and how to apply them in the practice of Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan Short Form. Students will also become acquainted with complementary practices such as Zhan Zhuang, Qi Gong and Bagua Zhang. This class will aim to improve the students understanding of movement, the body’s natural ability to draw in and expend energy efficiently as well as develop a practice that promotes an overall sense of well being.
Instructor Bio
Paul Findlen is a practicing martial artist, and tai chi and yoga instructor who lives in Beverly’s Ryal Side neighborhood. Paul has studied Tai Chi, Zenmudo, and Sunmudo with Vijay Son, and Tai Chi and Qigong as a student at Great Bay Tai Chi, under the instruction of Austin Murray and Master Paul Mahoney. Paul has also trained in boxing with Jack Dullea, received his yoga certification under the tutelage of Deana Bacon, and currently trains Brazilian jiu jitsu at the Invictus Training Center, as a student of head coach Nate Morrison. Paul enjoys composing and performing music, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.
