This 5 week class is For players who have played very little or not at all. You will learn about the rules, how to keep score, the serve, return of serve and volley strokes. This session will also address the dink shot, which is a foundation shot in the game of pickleball. Once players learn the game, they will have an opportunity to receive coaching as points are played out.

Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED Certification Class

Longtime instructors, Greater Boston Safety Training will lead this one day class.

This course is designed for Teachers, Coaches, Babysitters, Construction workers, and the general public. This classroom course includes essential information and training in the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA as well as CPR and AED certification training - all in a format that can be delivered in a single day. The course is modular to meet the needs of a specific workplace or group of employees. The core module comprises general principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies.

The class will be held at Camp Paradise at 44 Cole St. Beverly.

Students are advised to bring a notebook, pen, water and snack/lunch.

Cost: $120 per student.

Quickstart Tennis Lessons

The Bass River Tennis Club, in cooperation with the Beverly Recreation Department is offering summer tennis classes at Beverly Golf & Tennis Club.

Bass River Tennis Club operates the USTA QuickStart program which is now a world renowned and accepted teaching progression. Court size, ball pressure, racket length and weight and net height are adjusted to the age of the student. The teaching principles are interactive proven to show rapid success. The teaching staff has years of training and this innovative program will make you a lifelong tennis enthusiast.

SUMMER YOUTH & JUNIOR PROGRAMS 2025

Jacob Brower’s 4th of July celebration is kicking off the BevRec 2025 Special Event Season! Red, White, and Blue will fill up Lynch Park in a day dedicated to fun, laughter, and of course… HOTDOGS! The games will be thrilling, the music will be rockin’, and everyone will be sure to enjoy the water hose dance party! Make sure your child packs a bathing suit and towel… this day is going to be AMAZING!

Special Event Days take place at Lynch Park for all children attending BevRec’s Parks and Camps. For those attending the BevRec Parks Program, please make sure that your child is at their park in time for the bus on that morning at 8:15 am. A hotdog and chips lunch will be provided for all bev rec program participating children. Please bring a water bottle, comfy clothes, sunscreen, snack, and $2 per child for the bus ride. Buses will return to the children to their park between 2:30-3pm.

Boot Camp is a total-body conditioning program designed to improve your muscular strength, overall power core strength, agility, coordination, speed, flexibility and balance. Challenging workouts for all participants from beginning to advanced. Starting from scratch? Boosting your current workout? This is the class for you.

Longtime instructor Steve Gold will help modify the workout to suit your individual needs.

Outdoor Tai Chi for All Levels

Register Here!

$130 per person. This is a 9 class Session (running each Wednesday through 8.27.25)

Classes will be Wednesday afternoons from 6:15-7:15 at Obear Park ( 145 Livingstone Ave, Beverly)

Students of this class will learn the fundamental principles of Tai Chi and how to apply them in the practice of Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan Short Form. Students will also become acquainted with complementary practices such as Zhan Zhuang, Qi Gong and Bagua Zhang. This class will aim to improve the students understanding of movement, the body’s natural ability to draw in and expend energy efficiently as well as develop a practice that promotes an overall sense of well being.

Instructor Bios:

Paul Findlen is a practicing martial artist, and tai chi and yoga instructor who lives in Beverly’s Ryal Side neighborhood. Paul has studied tai chi, Zenmudo, and Sunmudo with Vijay Son, and tai chi and qigong as a student at Great Bay Tai Chi, under the instruction of Austin Murray and Master Paul Mahoney. Paul has also trained in boxing with Jack Dullea, received his yoga certification under the tutelage of Deana Bacon, and currently trains Brazilian jiu jitsu at the Invictus Training Center, as a student of head coach Nate Morrison. Paul enjoys composing and performing music, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.

Learn to forage local plants safely and sustainably! While walking at Camp Paradise we’ll meet a variety of plants, learning their uses for food and/or medicine. Foraging is an ancient tradition that brings you into close, intimate connection with the foods you eat and every day plant medicine. We will discuss uses, resources, safety, identification, and methods of harvest and preparation. ACME SR is looking to defend their Grand Prize, as the other parks and camps will do their very best to be the 2024 Lip Sync Champions! Lots of hard work, creative dances, and practice go into every Lip Sync, so cheer on Beverly’s finest talents! The renewed rivalry between Counselors and CITs will also be at the forefront of this fantastic event.

Tiny Tots Day at Lynch Park

Tiny Tots Day 2025 is a fun, free, family event put on by the fantastic Bev Rec Staff at beautiful Lynch Park! Bring your children ages 1-5 for all sorts of cool activities and crafts. Play in the splash pad, decorate a delicious cookie and get your face painted…hey, why not try to do all three at the same time?

Take part in one of our crazy games or just sit back and enjoy some fun songs from the concert! Artist to be determined.

Beverly Homecoming Grand Finale of Fireworks. Enjoy the fireworks by boat, or on your favorite Beverly Beach with your neighbors, friends, and family. Thank you for celebrating Beverly with us this week! We look forward to many more years of “Celebrating Beverly’s spirit”! The fireworks are set off in Mackerel Cove off of Lynch Beach and can be seen all along Mackerel Cove (Dane St. Beach, Independence Park). The galaxy is calling… and it’s calling you to Lynch Park for Star Wars Day! Suit up as your favorite character—Jedi, Sith, droid, or Wookiee—and blast off into a day full of space-themed games, cosmic crafts, and out-of-this-world fun. Pilot your way through starfighter relays, conquer the Death Star toss, and master the Force with challenges fit for Padawans and Masters alike. Whether you’re from Tatooine or Naboo, adventure awaits you in every corner of the park. This is the way… to summer fun!

Special Event Days take place at Lynch Park for all children attending BevRec’s Parks and Camps. For those attending the BevRec Parks Program, please make sure that your child is at their park in time for the bus on that morning at 8:00 am. Please bring a water bottle, comfy clothes, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, lunch/snack and $2 per child for the bus ride. Buses will return to the children to their park between 2:30-3pm.

Summer Concert Series at Lynch: 4EverFab

Join us at Lynch Park for a night of free and fantastic music with 4EverFab!

2025 will mark the 13th season of concerts by 4EverFab - a Beatles tribute band that focuses on authentically recreating the sound of the "Lads from Liverpool." 4EverFab has played more than 330 summer concerts for cities and towns in MA and NH, as well as venues that include the Cabot Street Theater, the Topsfield Fair, and the Plainridge Park Casino.

The band still features all four founding members of the band. Unique elements of their show include narration of the "back-stories" behind the songs and playing their entire show "By Request" so that audiences get to hear the songs THEY want to hear!

Listen closely and you will appreciate their tag-line: The Beatles ~ Nicely Played!

The new Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from ASHI gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to dealing with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, the magazine-format CABS guide and vlogger-style video make learning fun. Participants will be trained and certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.

$120 per student.

  • This class will be held at Camp Paradise at 44 Cole St in Beverly

  • Students are asked to bring a snack, lunch and a drink.

Why are Halloween costumes so expensive!? Every year, the pressure is on get your child the costume they want, which for some reason, is never less than $35. What’s worse is that most parents end up with piles of great costumes that only get worn once…or is that just me?

BevRec will be hosting a Costume Sale at the Beverly Senior Center. Throughout September, we will be accepting gently worn children’s costumes, mask and accessories. On October 11th our one day sale of these items will take open to the public. Items will range from $1-$10 (cash only). Please drop off any donations at the Senior Center (90 Colon St, Beverly, MA) or at the Beverly Public Library’s Children’s Room!

This course is designed for Teachers, Coaches, Babysitters, Construction workers, and the general public. This classroom course includes essential information and training in the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA as well as CPR and AED certification training - all in a format that can be delivered in a single day. The course is modular to meet the needs of a specific workplace or group of employees. The core module comprises general principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies.

Beverly HS Jazz Ensemble and the All City Jazz Band kick off the annual summer concert season at Lynch Park! Their fiery and feisty feast of jazz spans more than a century’s worth of quintessentially American music.  Under directors Adam Costa, Nick Krafka, and Alexis Carr, these two bands of enterprising youths will help you usher in the warmer months with a setlist that will feature a pastiche of swing, Latin music, funk, and, if we’re being honest, probably a Radiohead tune too!

Boot Camp is a total-body conditioning program designed to improve your muscular strength, overall power core strength, agility, coordination, speed, flexibility and balance. BevRec Adult Basketball League (Men’s) Season 5

BevRec’s Adult Basketball League SEASON 5 starts late May!

Each team will play eight games and be guaranteed at least one playoff game. Games will be refereed and played at Balch Playground or an indoor court (TBD) for rain days. The league plays on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Both the Men’s and the Women’s leagues will be 18+ and depending on the amount of teams, will be broken up by skill level.

$450 per team registration. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE REFEREE EXPENSES. EACH TEAM WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR $50 PER GAME TO COVER REFEREE COSTS.

Maximum of 10 players per roster.

If you do not have a team but are still interested in playing…

$70 per individual to register. If you are looking to be placed on a roster, simply fill out this form and bring/mail the completed form along with a check for $70 down to the Beverly Recreation Department (55 Ober St Beverly MA). PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE REFEREE EXPENSES.

BevRec and the Beverly Public Library are teaming up to offer Chess Nights in the Barnett Gallery in the main Library at 32 Essex St, Beverly. Monthly through May, come and play the world’s greatest game (if you don’t count Pac Man) with your neighbors. This is not an instructional class, but rather a meet up for people who are looking to play.

No matter your skill level, join us and challenge yourself to learn, grow and master chess. Boards will be provided though we invite you to bring a board if you are able.

Our cedar barrel sauna is heated to temperatures upward of 180°F and is the perfect accompaniment to a New England winter. Sauna has many health benefits, including relaxation and stress relief, temporary relief from pain, improved cardiovascular and respiratory functioning, and reduced inflammation. Kick things up a notch by cooling off in the sea. If the sea is not your thing, relaxing in the brisk salty New England air is a perfect alternative. There is nothing like it and we are so proud and excited to bring this experience to the Beverly community. This wonderful wood fired sauna sits up to 6 people. Book a spot on the bench for an hour, or multiple spots for you and your friends.  Wear a swimsuit, bring your towel, water bottle and don't forget water shoes if planning to visit the shore.

Tai Chi for All Levels

$130 per person. This is a 9 class Session (running each Wednesday through 6.25.25. )

Classes will be Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 at the Beverly Senior Center (90 Colon St.)

Students of this class will learn the fundamental principles of Tai Chi and how to apply them in the practice of Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan Short Form. Students will also become acquainted with complementary practices such as Zhan Zhuang, Qi Gong and Bagua Zhang. This class will aim to improve the students understanding of movement, the body’s natural ability to draw in and expend energy efficiently as well as develop a practice that promotes an overall sense of well being.

Instructor Bios:

Paul Findlen is a practicing martial artist, and tai chi and yoga instructor who lives in Beverly’s Ryal Side neighborhood. Paul has studied tai chi, Zenmudo, and Sunmudo with Vijay Son, and tai chi and qigong as a student at Great Bay Tai Chi, under the instruction of Austin Murray and Master Paul Mahoney. Paul has also trained in boxing with Jack Dullea, received his yoga certification under the tutelage of Deana Bacon, and currently trains Brazilian jiu jitsu at the Invictus Training Center, as a student of head coach Nate Morrison. Paul enjoys composing and performing music, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.

This class is every Monday - Wednesday for 7 weeks!

This move-at-your-own pace exercise program is ideal for the physically fit person, the novice or individual who may have back, knee or other problems. Develop muscle toning without weights and exercise work the entire body. This is a gentle slow flow class for students at every level of fitness.

Instructor: Helli Sharfman is a popular, 30+ year instructor with the recreation Department. Her program was developed at MIT where she compleated her training.

ASHI Child and Babysitting Safety Training

The new Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from ASHI gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to dealing with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, the magazine-format CABS guide and vlogger-style video make learning fun. Participants will be trained and certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.

$120 per student.

  • This class will be held at Camp Paradise at 44 Cole St in Beverly

  • Students are asked to bring a snack, lunch and a drink.
