This class introduces children and adults to the art and science of fly tying. Participants will learn the fundamental skills used to create an artificial lure, commonly called a fly, designed to imitate the natural foods fish eat in rivers and lakes.
Instruction will cover essential tools, materials, and supplies, along with the core techniques needed to tie effective and durable flies. The class will also include an introduction to basic entomology (aquatic insect identification) and explain how understanding insect life helps anglers choose and tie flies that successfully match what fish are feeding on. By the end of the session, each participant will have tied at least one fly of their own—ready to fish on a river or lake.
