Come on a plant walk to meet the native, less-often seen plants that are at home at Camp Paradise. The plants that we see and what stage of growth they are in change with the seasons. Some are only visible in Spring! We will learn to identify the native trees, shrubs, and understory plants, as well as introduced species. Many have historically been used for food, medicine, and more. Learn some of those uses and how to forage safely, responsibly, and sustainably. You will see the woods with new eyes! Bring a notebook, camera/phone, and a friend. A handout is included.

Instructor Bio: Iris Weaver is an herbalist and foraging instructor who leads plant walks on finding and using edible and medicinal plants in urban, suburban, and rural settings, as well as teaching a variety of classes and hands-on workshops. She is an avid gardener, especially of herbs of all kinds. With a deep love of the plants, she grows and wild-crafts many of the plants she uses in her herbal products, medicines, and foods, and has been doing so for decades. She is passionate about sharing what she knows about herbs, weeds, and all kinds of plants.

*Sessions are run independently. It’s not required to take all three sessions, but you can if you’d like!
