LEGO™ NXT MINDSTORMS Entering Grades 4-6. The Lego Mindstorms program takes kids to the next level of designing and building robots to meet a variety of fun challenges and tasks. The Mindstorms programs are written on computers and then downloaded to the free-roaming robots. Programmers can change the robot's behavior using environmental stimuli such as sound and light sensors, and these robots can incorporate up to three motors. Emphasizes problem-solving, process, group work, and fun in a relaxed atmosphere as kids compete in a low-stakes trials to develop a superior automaton. Building on the fusion of kids favorite stuff to do (we're talking Legos™ and computers, naturally), this action packed hands-on program introduces kids to robotics programming. Kids will create bots with motors and sensors, which they can program on our computers. They will work on challenges to wring the best performances from their inventions. Activities and themes include Rube Goldberg machines, soccer playing, animals, and high adventure. Learn basic programming as you build and program models. ROCKET SCIENCE 2012 Entering Grades 1-6. Rocket Science is a blast for any junior rocketeer! In the morning, our space scientists will learn about rocket propulsion by building compressed air rockets and rockets that blast off by chemical reactions! As flight engineers, kids will travel to infinity and beyond while they investigate how rockets get off the ground. Build a rocket and launch on Friday (safety permitting). In the afternoon learn all about the science of flight, and investigate how things fly. We'll travel across the solar system and learn about the rocky planets and gas giants, and why what goes up must come down. Rocket Science 2012 will be out of this world!
