Astrology Boot Camp

Discover your essential self in the richly evocative symbolism of the Zodiac and the planets. Astrology is a complex (and fascinating) subject, but it is surprisingly easy (and fun!) to learn the basics and get started reading charts for yourself, family and friends. Join us for a hands-on introduction to the secrets of this ancient art, using your own birth chart as your primary learning tool. Safe Boating
Instructors: Linda Seal & Dick Winskowicz
This UPDATED course is the Power Squadron’s primary civic effort toward public instruction in the fundamentals of safe boating. It is designed to familiarize the student with the fundamentals of safe boating and qualify for certification in most states that require boating education before operating a watercraft. Subjects include:
  • Boat handling under normal conditions

  • Adverse conditions and emergencies

  • Types of boats and boating terminology

  • Required and recommended equipment

  • Boating regulations and navigation rules

  • Lines and knots

  • Charts and aids to navigation

  • Piloting techniques

  • Marine radiotelephone usage

  • Trailer boating

  • 8 weeks. Please bring a notebook and pen.

    This basic course covers computer use and today’s operating systems. It will include basic computer knowledge, touching on virus protection, computer maintenance and basic office usage. 8 classes.

    James Murphy has an Associates Degree (BHCC 07) in Computer Science and a certificate from the Computer Learning Center. He is A+ certified and Chief of Operations of Veterans Computer Service.

    Basic Computer Repair & Understanding Microsoft Office

    This basic course touches on computer repair and maintenance. It will cover parts of a computer and usage including maintenance for beginners and veteran users, cleaning up your drive after networking all week, anti-viruses, anti-spyware, defragging and updating definitions.

    George Newcomb has 18 years of hands on experience with computer repair and building skills. He took the Associate Field Technician Course at Sylvania Tech (1982), the Field Service Course at Lowell Technical Vocational School (1990-92) and the Field Service Course at VeTTech (1994-95).

    Parlons Français! - Let’s Talk French!

    This class offers an enjoyable way to study French. The emphasis is on conversation – learn vocabulary and pronunciation skills necessary for basic social, work and travel situations. Come have fun with us as we learn the French language and culture! 8 classes.

    Amel Benali has a Master’s in Science Education. She has been fortunate enough to acquire a very broad experience and expertise in education and teaching. Over a ten- year period, she taught classes in elementary schools, high schools and colleges in Paris. Amel also had the opportunity and privilege to participate actively in the evaluation of different education programs in the world through her experience with UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).

    All Things Italian!

    All Things Italian is all about Italy and what makes Italy magical! This is a hands-on, fun class in which we will explore the language of Italy, the people of Italy, and the delicious and different regional foods and wines of Italy. We’ll highlight a few specific regions, sample some of their fabulous food and explore places to visit within those regions - just like the natives! You will learn enough Italian to help you get around, particularly at hotels, restaurants and the ‘Bancomat’. Come join us and explore this fabulous country, its delightful people and its fantastic cuisine. Italia, la bella vita! 8 classes.

    Gloria Salvanelli had the good fortune to live and work in Switzerland, just north of Italy. Living overseas and meeting her family was one of the best experiences of her life where she learned about her heritage, its food, people, culture and language. She has visited Italy frequently, including a month-long trip last autumn. Until recently, she wrote a monthly wine column for a Vermont newspaper, and was the proprietor of Salvanelli’s Authentic Italian Specialties, a gourmet Italian food basket company. She loves All Things Italian and looks forward to sharing her experience and knowledge with others.

    Introduction to Practical Meditation
