UP, UP, & AWAY Up, Up, & Away takes you on an investigation of all kinds of things that move through the air – from carnivores to contraptions! Take a look at birds of prey and find out what these modern day raptors like to eat. Build and launch your own rockets, copters and planes galore! Construct and fly a giant hot air balloon. Get to know bats – the only true flying mammal – and learn how they live and communicate. Learn the force that everything has to overcome to get Up, Up, & Away!

IN THE DIRT In The Dirt gets down and dirty with dirt dissections and worm tunnels. Learn about burrowing animals, and then imagine life from their perspective in your own painting. Dig deep to unearth rocks and minerals and find out how they become beautiful things like paint and jewels. Experiment by erupting model volcanoes, creating sand art sculptures, and rocking with the rock cycle! Go fossil hunting to find clues under the ground. Will the bones of a dinosaur turn up? In The Dirt is so much fun it will get under your skin!

THE DEEP BLUE SEA The Deep Blue Sea introduces kids to different denizens of the deep and the watery world they call home. Study the salty ocean and its cycle of tides. Create model seabirds and build your own compass. Visit coral reefs. Discover what life could be like without a backbone. Have a whale of a time and try on some blubber for size. Meet the ocean’s most efficient predators, and see why they aren’t really at all into nibbling on your leg. Learn how some animals light up their world, and then make your own glow-in-the-dark masterpiece! You’ll never look at the beach the same way again!

WHAT ON EARTH What On Earth looks at the richness of our world – how different habitats and their biggest and smallest inhabitants work together. Investigate the fields and forests, and use their plants to make surfer art. Challenge yourself to build a skyscraper with marshmallows, and design a weight bearing bridge. Locomote with robots and roll with cars that you make yourself. Create your own museum collection of the things you investigated during the week, and test your ability to classify things from the natural world. Go on the Great Race Back Scavenger Hunt and then relax as our local star makes sunprints. It’s out of this world!
