Kids' Activities
AFTERNOON PLAYGROUND PROGRAM
We are very excited this year to expand our free Summer Park program to provide afternoon park instructors at
Balch Playground every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:30PM to 4:00PM. This program is designed to promote more
physical activities for kids throughout the summer in a fun supervised environment, which will lead to healthier lifestyles
and better nutrition.
Balch Playground provides a great environment for this program. With a baseball field, basketball court, hockey rink and
plenty of green grass for soccer, lacrosse and many other games and activities, this program will be able to provide a wide
variety of activities for boys and girls ages 6-13. The program is designed to offer diverse activities to keep kids
interested and challenged.
The Beverly Recreation Department is a proud member of the Massachusetts Partnership for Healthy Weight. Our goal is to
continue to provide opportunities for all Beverly citizens to become more active and learn more about proper nutrition.
We have been working with the Greater Beverly YMCA, Beverly Hospital, Council on Aging and several other groups to create
new programs. This afternoon park program is another step on the road to a healthier Beverly.
More information about this free program will be available soon on our website and at the parks during the summer. We look
forward to seeing lots of kids participating in healthy sports and activities during afternoons at Balch this summer.
