BODY SCULPTURING
Instructor: Helli Sharfman
This individualized exercise program is ideal for the physically fit person, the novice, or the individual who may have
back, knee, or other problems. Exercises work the entire body. This "move at your own pace" fitness class develops
muscle toning without weights.
Helli Sharfman is a popular 20+ year instructor with the Recreation Department. Her program was developed at MIT where
she completed her training.

BEACH BOOT CAMP

This is an adult fitness program designed for every level that will improve the fitness of everyone that participates.
All aspects of a well-rounded fitness program (cardiovascular endurance, full-body strength, flexibility and nutrition)
are covered, which will kick start you on the road to optimum health! The staff will track your progress throughout.

CARDIO & CORE TRAINING (CCT)

This program is designed to develop or greatly improve cardiovascular endurance, stamina and power. We focus on core
strength, balance and stability each day after running. Through a variety of running drills, cone drills, obstacle
courses, hill running and many group activities, you are guaranteed to improve and progress. It is great for all levels
and abilities. CCT will give you the interval training that you need to help increase your speed, power and endurance.
Break up the monotony of training on your own!

FENCING IN THE PARK
Instructors: 3MB Fencing Club
Join us for this exciting sport, one of the fastest growing in the world! Young people and adults are fascinated by the
movements and excitement of fencing and are eager to find a place that they can go to learn this original, modern sport.
Fencing develops physical fitness, the ability to develop strategy, concentration as well as camaraderie and respect.
Participants of all ages will be working together! Ages 8 - Adult. 8 classes.

KAYAK LEARNING CENTER

The Kayak Learning Center summer programs provide paddling instruction to help students develop
an awareness of safety issues. With “Outdoor Paddlesport Adventures” growing rapidly, we are committed to teach beginners
to become well prepared and informed paddlers. Our staff members are carefully chosen for their boat skills and abilities
with children. Each staff member is a certified YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard with CPR and First Aid certifications.
SUMMER HOURS RENTALS BEGIN: Late June - Labor Day TIMES: Weekdays & Weekends, 10AM-5:30PM
RATES: $15 - Single Boat - 1.5 hours or $22 - Double Boat - 1.5 hours

GET SUMMER OFF TO A RUNNING START
A BEVERLY RECREATION RUNNING CLINIC
Instructor: Annalisa DiPalma, Fusion Fitness
Join Annalisa Di Palma, marathoner and USATF Certified Coach, as you take to the streets and parks of Beverly in this
introductory running program! Designed for individuals with little to no running experience who have the desire to learn
how to get started, this program will teach you where and how to begin. Annalisa utilizes a walk-run coaching philosophy
and ensures that no one is left behind! Learn tips for staying motivated, remaining injury free, and feeling energized
and successful after every exercise session! 4 classes.
Annalisa DiPalma is the co-owner of Fusion Fitness and has over two decades of running experience. Her lifelong passion
for running, cycling, and coaching spans track and field, road racing and marathons. Annalisa has run 9 marathons, has
trained with the Boston Running Club and Community Running Club, has coached at the middle school level, and currently
coaches individual runners and small groups at varying distances. She has eight years of marketing and PR experience, a
BA from Boston College and an MBA from Northeastern University.

BEGIN TO SPIN
Instructor: Annalisa Di Palma, Fusion Fitness
This small group class is designed for participants to learn how to ride at their own level and feel comfortable in any
Spinning class! Each class will consist of a 35-40 minute ride designed to teach the building blocks of safe and
successful riding, ending with a full body stretch and an opportunity to ask questions. All you need is an open mind and
a willingness to have fun! We’ll cover all the basics of bike safety, personalized modifications and what to expect in a
class setting. Spring water and towels are provided – just bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothes!! 4 classes.
This class is safe and appropriate for pre and post natal participants (please bring a heart rate monitor, or call
Fusion Fitness and they can provide one).

FULL BODY STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
Instructors: B&S Fitness Programs
This program is designed for people who do cardiovascular work on their own or for those who have injuries that prevent
them from being able to run and do drills. One day will focus on upper-body conditioning and the other day will focus on
the lower-body. There is light cardio and core conditioning each day. Exercises include push-ups, lunge walks, squats,
leg bands and more. This class can be modified for all levels, so we encourage everyone to join for a different type of
full body conditioning!
